Robert Indiana’s LOVE that uses the unmistakable slanted ‘O’ within a square format first, appeared in 1964 in a series of frottage drawings in graphite and colored pencil. Indiana further developed his concept through a series of paintings, sculpture and prints. Love was a subject of great spiritual significance for the artist.
