Global Warning by Martin Parr is a comprehensive photography book published by Phaidon Press in association with Jeu de Paume, Paris, in 2026. Created to accompany the major Martin Parr: Global Warning exhibition, the publication presents more than five decades of the British photographer’s sharp, humorous, and socially critical observations of contemporary life.
The paperback book contains 216 pages and measures 24.5 × 21 cm / 9.6 × 8.3 in. It is richly illustrated with more than 175 photographs, combining many of Parr’s best-known images with rarely published works. The publication features an introduction by Quentin Bajac, director of Jeu de Paume, together with essays by Jean-François Staszak, Roberta Sassatelli, Violette Pouillard, and Adam Greenfield.
Across the book, Martin Parr examines mass tourism, consumer culture, technology, transport, overconsumption, leisure, environmental decline, and humanity’s complicated relationship with animals and the natural world. His photographs range from early black-and-white studies of rural England and British holiday culture to highly saturated colour images of crowded beaches, supermarkets, tourist attractions, shopping centres, and global destinations.
Parr’s distinctive photography combines documentary observation with satire, humour, and visual exaggeration. Global Warning reconsiders his photographs in the context of contemporary global disorder and environmental concern, showing how his images of everyday consumption and leisure also document the behaviours contributing to climate change and ecological pressure.
