Le découpage de papier est un art traditionnel chinois vieux de 2 000 ans. Ces papiers colorés, finement découpés, sont utilisés comme support narratif lors des festivités, pour les prières et comme décoration quotidienne. Le motif du sac blanc s'inspire d'une gravure réalisée par Ai Weiwei dans le cadre de son Portfolio de découpages, publié par TASCHEN en 2019 : Zodiac, une représentation du zodiaque chinois en bronze et en or, d'après des modèles historiques.
