Lots of Dots is an interactive children’s art book inspired by the visual world of Yayoi Kusama and published by Phaidon in 2026.

Shaped like one of Kusama’s famous pumpkins, the board book introduces very young readers to early-learning concepts through repetition, pattern, color, and counting. Children encounter one dot, two dots, big dots, small dots, and changing colors as they move through the book.

The design uses bright, high-contrast imagery together with shiny foil polka dots, sparkles, and clever die-cut elements, creating a tactile and sensory reading experience intended for babies and toddlers. The compact board-book construction is designed for small hands and repeated use. Phaidon

The book contains 28 pages and measures approximately 18 × 19.5 cm / 7.1 × 7.7 in. It carries ISBN 978-1-83729-403-9and is published by Phaidon.

The final pages include a short, child-friendly introduction to Kusama’s art, linking the playful visual experience of the book to her wider practice and encouraging curiosity about artists and creative expression.

Lots of Dots works both as an early-learning board book and as a first introduction to one of the most recognizable visual languages in contemporary art.

A distinctive publication for admirers of Yayoi Kusama, children’s art books, early-learning design, polka-dot imagery, pumpkin motifs, tactile books, and contemporary art education.
