Flowers by Andy Warhol x teNeues is an original vintage artist T-shirt produced in 1993 under authorization of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The design is based on Warhol’s celebrated Flowers imagery from 1964, one of the most recognizable motifs of his Pop Art career.
The T-shirt is made from 100% cotton and was manufactured in the Netherlands. This example is size XL and features a large multicolored Flowers print, together with a printed Andy Warhol signature and copyright information identifying the 1993 Andy Warhol Foundation and teNeues production.
This example is particularly desirable because it is preserved as a complete set with the original teNeues presentation box and original documentation. Complete boxed examples are considerably less common than loose vintage shirts and are especially appealing to collectors of Warhol merchandise and artist-designed fashion.
Warhol’s Flowers series was first created in 1964 and became one of his defining subjects. Using a photograph of hibiscus blossoms as his source image, Warhol transformed the flowers through repetition, flattening, and intense color, turning a familiar natural subject into an instantly recognizable Pop Art image.
The teNeues T-shirt extends Warhol’s imagery into wearable form, continuing the close relationship between his work, consumer culture, fashion, and mass-produced objects.
A strong vintage collectible for admirers of Andy Warhol, Flowers imagery, teNeues, Pop Art, artist T-shirts, wearable art, 1990s design, and original Andy Warhol Foundation merchandise.
