Daido Moriyama: Odasaku (English Version) is a limited-edition photobook published in 2016 by Match and Company / bookshop M. The book pays tribute to the Osaka writer Oda Sakunosuke, known as “Odasaku,” by pairing Moriyama’s photographs with the English translation of Oda’s 1946 short story At the Horse Races. 

Inside, the 180-page hardcover volume contains 85 photographs of Osaka, moving through streets, restaurants, temples, hills, and urban fragments connected to Odasaku’s literary world. Moriyama’s grainy, high-contrast style gives the city a restless and atmospheric feeling, while the text adds a strong literary layer to the book. Issued in a numbered English edition of 1,500 copies with a slipcase, Odasaku is a strong collector’s title for fans of Daido Moriyama, Japanese photobooks, Osaka street photography, and the meeting point between photography and literature.
