Murakami × Louis Vuitton: The New Artycapucines VII at Art Basel Paris 2025

This month in Paris, beneath the grand glass canopy of the Grand Palais, Takashi Murakami unveiled his latest collaboration with Louis Vuitton, the Artycapucines VII collection. Presented during Art Basel Paris, the installation was a vivid, immersive celebration of Murakami’s singular universe: an explosion of smiling flowers, luminous tentacles, and dreamlike colour that blurred the borders between fashion, fine art, and fantasy.

At the heart of this spectacle lies Murakami’s enduring visual language, a lexicon developed over decades of printmaking and painting. The characters and motifs that animate the Artycapucines collection have lived many lives before this one: in lithographs, screenprints, and hand-signed editions that distil Murakami’s obsession with the fusion of tradition and pop. These works, first conceived in the artist’s Tokyo studio and printed in small, carefully controlled editions, are the true DNA of the Louis Vuitton collaboration.

In our gallery, we are fortunate to hold a selection of these Murakami prints, each hand-signed by the artistand directly connected to the imagery that now wraps the Capucines. Seen up close, the precision of Murakami’s technique becomes evident, the seamless gradients of colour, the rhythmic repetition of his iconic smiling flowers, the balance between playfulness and rigor that makes his art so uniquely recognisable. To encounter these prints is to glimpse the very sources from which the new collection draws its energy.

As the art world turns its gaze to Paris and the luminous spectacle of the Artycapucines VII, we invite visitors to rediscover Murakami in his purest form: the printed image. These editions, intimate yet exuberant, remind us that before the runway and the atelier came the page,  where Murakami’s universe first unfolded in ink and colour.
